The London Fire Brigade Welfare Fund is a stand alone membership organisation set up to encourage & serve the sports, social & recreational interests of its members.
Examples of some services we provide are the various amenities that we grant for members' use at Brigade stations and offices, such as gym and entertainment equipment. We also offer a range of sporting and leisure trips and events, for instance London's Fittest Fire-fighter' or the Tunnel to Towers Trip to New York coming up this autumn. Theatre tickets are available at subsidised prices for a number of popular shows and musicals and the Fund operates a members' monthly lottery with a first prize of £10,000 and a second prize of £5,000 with twenty runner-up prizes.
Other advantages of being a Welfare Fund member include the great value Fire Brigade related merchandise which members can purchase by completing an order form found in the magazine and on the website or contacting us by telephone. A large range of LFB personalized merchandise is sold in our shop such as rugby shirts, polo shirts and T-shirts.
Members are able to make use of the facilities at our sports club at Edmonton and our pub, The Goldsmiths Arms which we have recently taken on, located next to Southwark Training Centre.
In addition to these services, within the LFB Welfare Fund membership subscription is a Death Benefit Scheme for those members under the age of 65. The benefit is paid out to the beneficiary nominated by the deceased member or if there is no specified beneficiary, to their next of kin providing, of course, that exclusions do not apply.
